Forklift Instructors course

Offices 17-19, 35 Progress Road. Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. SS9 5PR

We offer three types of training which include a 10-day novice course, a re-registration 5-day course or if your licence has expired over 12 months up to 5 years, a re-registration 3-day course.

Delegates on this course will learn the appropriate teaching practices and up to date information behind the practices of RTITB instructors. This course includes theory practices behind teaching, including making lesson plans, providing practical teaching instruction, practical instruction for the use of lift trucks as well as examinations in both theory and practical assessment.

Delegates on the course will also learn all the required guidelines behind PUWER, LOLER and their ACOP, alongside any information on course layout. It is important that lift-truck operators are trained to the standards outlined in the L117 ACOP, whether using in-house trainers or external training providers. There are a number of organisations who provide accreditation for lift-truck training schemes

This course is certified by RTITB and upon successful completion, candidates will gain the RTITB instructor qualification which will allow them to be able to train other candidates for the use of counterbalance and any other licences that you hold under RTITB such as reach.

The HSE says the following when selecting instructors in the workplace for training;

“Successful training depends on the competence of instructors. You, as
an employer, need to assess the competence of any training organisation you
choose, as it is your responsibility to ensure your operators are properly trained.
Ask instructors to supply evidence of their training and post-training experience on
the type of truck to be used, both as instructor and operator, along with
documentation such as:
■ a valid certificate of training (instructor qualification);
■ an insurance certificate (public liability at least);
■ proof they can train on the vehicles concerned”
